Showgirls 15th Anniversary Blu-ray Announced

MGM has announced Showgirls, in a "15th Anniversary Sinsational Edition" Blu-ray featuring its NC-17 131-minute uncut version, with a street date of June 15. Writer Joe Eszterhas and director Paul Verhoeven followed up their smash hit Basic Instinct by upping the exploitation ante with this look at the world of Vegas showgirls, which was a critical and box-office failure but went on to earn somewhat of a cult status in home video.

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Blu-ray Announced

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that it will release Alice in Wonderland on Blu-ray on June 1. This new reimagining of the Lewis Carroll classic, directed by Tim Burton, went on to earn close to $800 million at the worldwide box office, partly thanks to showings of its 3D conversion. It will be presented in a three-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (BD/DVD/Digital Copy)

LOST 6

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced Blu-ray ($94.99) releases of Lost: The Complete Sixth and Final Season for the 24th August. Extras will include audio commentaries, original scripted content that goes deeper into some of the stories, deleted scenes, bloopers, featurettes ("Lost: On Location", "Crafting a Final Season"), and more.

Rambo - Extended Cut[Blu-ray]

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced  Blu-ray release of Rambo - Extended Cut for the 27th July. The film will include 9 extra uncut minutes. Each release will also include a 60 minute production diary. We've attached package artwork for the Canadian releases below. The US artwork should be virtually identical, albeit without the French translation on the sticker!

Brooklyn's Finest [Blu-ray]

Anchor Bay Entertainment has set July 6 as the Blu-ray release date for the crime movie Brooklyn's Finest, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke and Don Cheadle as three conflicted New York City police officers whose lives are dramatically transformed by their involvement in a massive drug operation over the course of one chaotic week.

Metropolis Blu-ray

Eureka Entertainment has revealed initial details for the UK release of the new restoration of Fritz Lang's masterpiece Metropolis, which will come out in its new 150-minute restored version as part of the Masters of Cinema series in late 2010. It will come in special-edition packaging with a "lavish wraparound sleeve and embossed printing."

Preliminary special features include:
Full-length audio commentary by David Kalat and Jonathan Rosenbaum
Die Reise nach Metropolis: 2010 documentary about the film
56-page booklet featuring new essays, archival interviews, vintage production stills, and more
Further extras will be announced nearer the release date.

Note that the US edition by Kino may feature different packaging and special features.

StudioCanal Blu-ray Titles in September

On its Facebook page, Optimum Home Entertainment has revealed that it will release six titles on Blu-ray in September as part of the StudioCanal Collection:

Delicatessen (Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, 1991)

The Graduate (Mike Nichols, 1967)

Mulholland Drive (David Lynch, 2001)

The Pianist (Roman Polanski, 2002)

The Third Man (Carol Reed, 1949)

Edition details are still unknown, other than they will be presented in Blu-ray books.

Additionally, the studio has confirmed that  Breathless (Jean-Luc Godard 1960)

which only had been released in France and Germany in February, will also be available in the UK in September.

Jason and the Argonauts Blu-ray Announced

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set July 6 as the Blu-ray release date for the 1963 mythological action/adventure movie Jason and the Argonauts, featuring visual effects by Ray Harryhausen, including a famous fight sequence between live-action warriors and a small army of stop-motion-animated skeletons.

Magnolia Home Entertainment has announced the epic war movie The Warlords (Tau ming chong) for release on Blu-ray on June 29. This 2007 Hong Kong production, despite its production budget and cast (starring Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro) only saw a very limited theatrical release on April 2.
