The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

New Line Home Entertainment has unofficially announced the Blu-ray release of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy for latter part of this year, priced somewhere in the region of $99.98. Details are very sketchy for this one at this moment in time, with no technical specifications or bonus material confirmed. However, it is strongly rumoured that the set will only include the theatrical cuts of the films, with a more elaborate boxed set to follow after the completion of The Hobbit. We'll bring you more news as soon as we have official confirmation, but for now here's a look at the proposed artwork.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced a Blu-ray release of Requiem for a Dream which Ellen Burstyn and Jennifer Connelly. The disc will be available to own from the 8th September, and should retail at around $19.99. The disc features a newly remastered 1080P High Definition Widescreen presentation of the film plus 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio. Blu-ray special features include commentaries with the director and the director of photography, a "making of" documentary, deleted scenes and interviews.

K-19: The Widowmaker

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced a Blu-ray release of K-19: The Widowmaker which stars Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson. The disc will be available to own from the 15th September. The film itself will be presented in widescreen, along with a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. Extras will include commentary by director Kathryn Bigelow and cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, 4 featurettes ("The Making of K-19: The Widowmaker", "Exploring the Craft: Make-Up Techniques", "Breaching The Hull", "It's In The Details"), and the theatrical trailer.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced a Blu-ray release of The Ninth Gate which stars Johnny Depp, Lena Olin, and Frank Langella. The disc will be available to own from the 11th August, and should retail at around $19.99. The film itself will be presented in widescreen, along with 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio. Extras will include audio commentary with director Roman Polanski, a Dissecting The Ninth Gate featurette, a gallery of satanic drawings, storyboard selections, and some trailers.

Interactive Timelines—Three distinct timelines featuring a combination of video, images, text and audio that can be accessed linearly or randomly.
Production: A comprehensive chronology of the motion picture from conception through theatrical release, from a behind-the-scenes point of view.
Historical: Chronological modules feature Scotland’s greatest patriot, along with historical places, figures and events surrounding his life and struggle.
Fiction: A comprehensive timeline identifying the chronological events of the film.
Braveheart: A Look Back— Features new interviews with members of the cast and crew reminiscing about their experiences making the film and its enduring impact on cinema.
Smithfield: Medieval Killing Fields—Relates the remarkable history of Smithfield, which for centuries was regularly filled with the roars of crowds, regal fanfares and rowdy games. Smithfield is also known as the site of William Wallace’s execution, along with other terrifying spectacles when heretics, rebels and criminals were put to death.
Battlefields of the Scottish Rebellion— Two major Scottish battlefields, Falkirk and Bannockburn, will be presented as 3D models that can be explored for further investigation into the military strategies and timetables employed in each. Topography, weapons, troop movements, and leadership data can also be accessed. An alternate playing mode will allow the story of each battle to unfold in an “automated” fashion, much like the interactive dioramas displayed at historical site museums around the world.

Gladiator

Universal Pictures International Entertainment have announced the UK Blu-ray Disc release of Gladiator on 7th September 2009. Ridley Scott’s award-winning epic stars Russell Crowe as Maximus, a Roman general who is betrayed and his family murdered by a corrupt prince, he comes to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge.

The press release confirms an international rollout of the title around the world in September and October. Paramount Home Entertainment will be releasing the same Blu-ray disc in US and Canada on 1st September 2009.
