Rumor: War of the Worlds Blu-ray in June
According to information posted at UK retailer HMV, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Steven Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds' on Blu-ray on June 14. No information on technical specifications or special features is available at this time. Note that this is unofficial until there is an announcement from the studio.

Saving Private Ryan Blu-ray Announced
Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of the war movie Saving Private Ryan, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks, on May 4, or about a month before the 65th anniversary of D-Day. This title will be part of Paramount's Sapphire Series; audio/video specifications and special features have not been officially listed yet.
K-19 Blu-ray Resurfaces, Escape from LA Breaks Out
On May 4, Paramount Home Entertainment will release John Carpenter's Escape from L.A. and Kathryn Bigelow's K-19: The Widowmaker. These two catalog titles were initially scheduled for September 2009, but were later postponed, along with 48 Hrs., The Firm and The Score. Audio on both titles is listed as Dolby TrueHD 5.1.
Did You Hear About the Morgans?[Blu-ray]
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Blu-ray release of Did You Hear About the Morgans? for the 16th March. Extras will include commentary with Director Marc Lawrence and Stars Hugh Grant & Sarah Jessica Parker, featurettes ("Location, Location, Location!", "Cowboys and Cosmopolitans: The Stars of Did You Hear About the Morgans", "Park Avenue Meets the Prairie: The Fashions of Did You Hear About the Morgans", "A Bear of a Scene"), deleted scenes, outtakes, and more.
Murdoch: Avatar Blu-ray Release by June
At a News Corp. earnings call, CEO Rupert Murdoch said that James Cameron's sci-fi megablockbuster Avatar will be released on Blu-ray during the company's fiscal year, which ends June 30. However, the studio is in no hurry to put the movie on store shelves just yet. “We're not going to yank it out of theaters if it is doing $30 million a weekend,” News Corp. president Chase Carey said.
Rumor: Remastered Gladiator Blu-ray Coming Up
The Digital Bits, quoting industry sources, is reporting that Paramount Home Entertainment, in cooperation with Universal Studios Home Entertainmment, will re-issue Gladiator on Blu-ray later this year, using a brand-new 1080p transfer that was just completed "a couple of months ago." Bill Hunt says this was done "after Paramount and Universal realized how bad the first one was, naturally."
Again according to the Bits' sources, the studio plans to schedule this Blu-ray rerelease for late summer or fall, to coincide with either the theatrical or (more probably) the home video release of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, and possibly labeled as a 10th Anniversary Edition.
There is no information as to whether there will be an exchange program for the first edition of this title. There is no information either of a rerelease in other territories.

Two Chaplin Films Announced for Blu-ray
UK film distributor Park Circus has announced that its new home entertainment label will launch in the second quarter of 2010 and that it will start with a bang, by being the first to release movies directed by Charlie Chaplin in high definition, licensed from the MK2 library. The Kid and The Great Dictator will see the light on Blu-ray on May 10; release details are still undisclosed, but the label claims that both titles have undergone a "full restoration for the digital age."
James Cameron Reveals Avatar Blu-ray Release Date
In an interview yesterday, director James Cameron leaked the release date for what will be the first Blu-ray edition of his megablockbuster movie Avatar: it will be on Earth Day. “It's all right on schedule,” said Cameron. “We'll do the Blu-ray and the standard def DVD April 22nd, that's our plan as of right now, and that'll be pretty much bare bones. And then we'll do a value-added DVD and a 3D Blu-ray in I think November sometime.”
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment couldn't confirm the release date.
The Lovely Bones[Blu-ray]
Paramount Home Entertainment has announced 2-disc Blu-ray releases of The Lovely Bones for the 20th April.The 2-disc Blu-ray will include an extensive production diary in 15 segments hosted by Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens that follows the film’s shoot and post-production work on the visual effects.

Dirty Dancing Keepsake Edition [Blu-Ray]
Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced Dirty Dancing (Limited Keepsake Edition) for release on Blu-ray on May 4. This newly remastered BD of this movie includes over an hour of brand new bonus materials (some BD-exclusive). It will be housed in collectible packaging that includes a 52-page hardcover commemorative book plus a coupon for fifty dollars off a stay at the "real" Kellerman's Resort (Mountain Lake Hotel in Virginia).

Spartacus [Blu-ray]
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that, on May 25th, it will release Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus (1960). In 1961, the film won four Academy Awards, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Peter Ustinov) and Best Cinematography (Russell Metty).

Cocoon [Blu-ray]
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced and detailed Ron Howard's sci-fi drama Cocoon, which will be released on Blu-ray on April 6. Despite being promoted as a "25th Anniversary Edition," no new content has been created for this release, which carries over the bonuses from the 2004 DVD.
